Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) Residing in Town

A Message to the Mountain View Community,

We are writing today to inform you that an individual designated as a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP), Troy Barrett, has moved to the Town of Mountain View from another jurisdiction. We understand this is alarming news and our city has never had a person with this statutorily defined designation reside here before. We understand you will have questions and concerns about this. The police department will work with our community to answer any questions as we are legally permitted to answer. The Town of Mountain View’s priority is the safety of all of our community members.

Please know the Town of Mountain View is taking this issue extremely seriously. The Police Department is willing to answer any of your questions, provide any educational information about sex offenders/SVP’s, provide tips for talking to your children about sex offenders, and provide information from national organizations.

Accompanying this message is the ‘Sexually Violent Predator Community Notification Bulletin’ for this SVP. To view the SVP Bulletin, please click the following link: SVP Bulletin.
