Dear Mountain View Residents:
I’m very pleased to announce that Alpine Waste & Recycling will be providing trash and recycling service to the Town’s residents starting on January 1, 2019. Each residence will receive a complementary 95-gallon recycling container for their use during the three-year contract, with trash fees only increasing three dollars ($3) per quarter per single family residence for 2019. Residents will still be responsible for providing their own trash containers.
I negotiated this new contract with Alpine after we received notice that our previous provider, Waste Management, wanted to increase its waste and recycling charges by nearly eight dollars ($8) per resident, per month. With the assistance of Councilmember Adam Ellsworth, chair of the Public Works Committee, the Town Council then voted to make the change to Alpine.
The pickup schedule will continue to be weekly for trash and every other week for recycling, but for the convenience of our residents, recycling pickup will now be in the alley, rather than at the street. To have recyclables processed, please remember to use the recycling containers that Alpine will soon distribute to the alley behind your homes. The approximate delivery date for those containers is between December 28th, 2018 and January 4th, 2019.
We will be mailing you an Alpine welcome letter, recycling materials flyer, and calendar for 2019. You can also find the calendar and supporting documentation on the Town’s website, at http://www.townofmountainviewcolorado.org. And, finally, if you currently have a recycling and/or trash container(s) that Waste Management provided free of charge, please place the container(s) on the street by 7am on Monday, December 31st for Waste Management to pick up.
