2021 Municipal Election Information

How Do I Become a Candidate?

The next regular municipal election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. This election will be a mail ballot election coordinated with Jefferson County. There are three Mountain View Town Council seats and a mayoral seat open for candidates. Municipal elections in Colorado are "nonpartisan," meaning candidates do not run for election on a designated party ticket.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Be a citizen of the United States.
Be a qualified elector in the Town of Mountain View.
Be a resident of Mountain View for at least 12 consecutive months preceding the date of the election.

The 2021 Candidate Manual and Nominating Petition Packet-which contain information and forms necessary to run for these four positions-are now available with the Deputy Town Clerk.

The Nominating Petition Packet must be circulated for signatures between August 3rd and August 23rd, 2021. To be valid, it must be turned into the Town clerk's office no later than 5 p.m. on August 23rd, 2021.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to come to the Town Clerk's Office at Town Hall, 4176 Benton Street, and visit with the Deputy Clerk (between 10am and 2pm Monday or Wednesday or by appointment outside of those hours).
