Seeking Full-Time Public Works Supervisor

Job Title: Public Works Supervisor (Full Time – 32 hours per week)
Dept/Group: Operations
FSLA Status: Non-exempt
Position reports to: Public Works Director

Position Summary:
The primary goal of the Public Works Supervisor is to work alongside and at the direction of the Public Works Director to inspect and schedule maintenance in the following areas: storm drainage and wastewater systems, streets (including curbs and gutters), street lights, Town Hall building and park area. This position is responsible for some minor repairs and maintenance of Town infrastructure and Town Hall building and property, as well as right-of-way areas throughout Town, per the Public Works Director’s instructions.

Key Responsibilities: % time
1. Learn the job of inspecting and scheduling maintenance of the Town’s infrastructure, including streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, street lighting, waste water system, storm drainage system, Town Hall, and park. 25%
2. Develop and maintain preventative maintenance procedures and schedules. Handle minor maintenance and repairs of town signs, Town Hall building, etc. as needed per Director. 20%
3. Learn the job of preparing RFPs, overseeing contracts and establishing standards of performance for contractors. 10%
4. Miscellaneous tasks as required, e.g., trash removal and disposal, large debris removal, order and pickup office supplies. 10%
5. Assist Director of Public Works in the preparation of reports. e.g., CDOT, Conservation Trust, Council reports, grant applications, etc. 10%
6. Work with Code Enforcement personnel and residents – learn Town Code to respond to complaints regarding residential property and Town infrastructure issues such as street conditions, traffic signals, street lighting, signage, waste water system, and storm drainage. 5%
7. Attend meetings with Director of Public Works, Mayor, and Council as needed. Occasional evening meetings. 5%
8. Interact with the residents of the town with regard to Public Works issues, to assist Public Works Director as requested. 5%
9. Assist with development of Public Works Town communication (website, social media, newsletter) per Director’s request. 5%
10. Support Public Works Director, as needed. 5%

Minimum Job Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Proper use of office equipment, e.g., printer, copier
Current valid driver’s license with fewer than two moving violations within the past three years

Business Experience:
General knowledge of public works and maintenance practices

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
Strong analytical skills
Ability to communicate and execute work effectively
Ability to work independently; self-starter

Working Conditions:
Environment – standard office and outdoor environment in all types of weather conditions
Physical Requirements –
• Lifting up to 50 lbs
• Standing, bending, stooping
• Walking approximately three hours per day (will vary)
• Using keyboard approximately two hours per day (will vary)

Benefits:
Health insurance through Kaiser is provided to all employees, with the Town paying 100% of the premium for both the employee and dependents.

• PTO of 13 days per year, to be used for any reason, and at the employee’s discretion. (After two-years of employment, the PTO increases to 15 days and continues to increase up to 25 days after 16 years of successive employment with the Town.)

• Bereavement Leave of up to 3 days off for the funeral of a close relative.
